Jefferson E. Allen has been actively involved in the printing and publishing industry for over ten years. He is the author of Strategic Positioning – Making the Transition to a Technology Based Print Business, (NAPL, 2003) and has a private consulting practice providing business development, internet commerce strategy and marketing services for a wide variety of companies.

Prior to starting his consulting practice, Allen held a variety of marketing, e-business and business development roles at The Standard Register Company. As the Electronic Commerce Director for Standard Register he created the vision and set strategic objectives and priorities for the company’s Internet commerce and technology services portfolios.

Allen drove the company’s design, development, and deployment of all customer facing commerce solutions including catalog, versioned, variable, and ad hoc ordering capabilities. Jeff also led the integration of Standard Register’s supply chain partners, creating on line ordering and management solutions for both direct and indirect materials.

Under Jeff’s leadership, Standard Register was recognized as having one of the top 50 business to business internet commerce platforms in the country in 1998, 1999, and 2000 by Interactive Week magazine.

As the Vice President of Business Development for the company’s subsidiary, SMARTworks, LLC, Jeff defined the vision, created the business and operating plans and secured funding for a new technology services company. While establishing operations for the business, Allen was responsible for creating and implementing the organizational design, sales and marketing strategies, and ongoing development plans for the company.
